Who we are

The choir DIE FIXEN NIXEN was initiated in 2001 by Uschi Keil, the managing director of the agency for script, direction, acting and camera »Above the Line, Berlin«, as a choir for women from media professions. Today, women from other professions also lend their voices to the choir.

Among other things, DIE FIXEN NIXEN have made it their task to further develop the song repertoire for women’s choirs. In exchange with other artists, singing traditions and musical genres, the choir is constantly growing musically and vocally.

Artistic direction

Since January 2023 Sandra Gallrein is artistic director of DIE FIXEN NIXEN • DER CHOR.

Sandra is a freelance choir director, voice coach and singer. She owes important impulses to the conductors, voice coaches and singers Joachim Geiger, Ralf Sochaczewsky, Elisabeth Esch, Horst H. Blöß and Magdalena Hajossyova as well as to the directors of various workshops and master classes in early and new music, singing and choral conducting Michael Procter, Nicolas Isherwood, Hans Christoph Rademann and the Hilliard Ensemble.

Sandra studied musicology, art history and German studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. She completed her musical-practical training with offers from the German Choral Association and Choir Association Berlin.
